  • 5 things that you can do.

The Health+ Long COVID Report has several recommendations to support workplaces to better affirm, support, and accommodate people with Long COVID and their caregivers.

The Job Accommodation Network (JAN)'s guide for employers also details how employers can support employees who have Long COVID in the workplace.

Based on these, here are a few practical things you can do for your workers.

    1

    Review your accommodation policy

According to the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), Long COVID may be a disability under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Beyond your legal responsibilities, consider providing accommodations even when not required to do so.

    2

Aim for flexibility (telework and flexible hours)

Workplace flexibility can help all of your employees better balance personal and workplace demands and it's especially beneficial to those with Long COVID.

    3

Provide workplace training on Long COVID

Use some of the resources shared on this website to help train and build awareness, understanding, and empathy in your workplace.

    4

Be creative with accommodations and open to ideas

Accommodation discussions should be interactive. Different roles and workplaces require different accommodations. Check out the section below for ideas or use our AI ideabot if you're stuck.

    5

Offer job training and transition resources

If an employee can no longer do their job and accommodation isn't possible, consider training your employee for a new role. If that's not possible, help them identify a local organization or agency that may be able to support them.

  • ACCOMMODATE your employees who have Long COVID.
